R told us today at the Storefront that he went to a local hospital a few days ago for help with his addiction. Luckily, he has ID and insurance (two huge stumbling blocks for so many people we encounter). He was assessed, his insurance company approved treatment for him and he was ready to stop using. Instead of treatment, he was given comfort meds (Tramadol), waited there for 36 hours, told that there were no beds and released back to the streets. THE SYSTEM IS BROKEN.
