One year ago today we lost a friend, a fierce advocate, a man who fought so hard for himself and others. Paul was supposed to visit us at the Storefront after volunteering at Prevention Point that Tuesday. He never came by, and was found hours later, gone because of an overdose. I often wonder if he rode his bike past the Storefront on his way to the tracks. I wish I would’ve seen him and hugged him. If he was here with us today, he would making his voice heard, advocating for safe injection sites. We won’t give up, Paul! We miss and love you.
