img_2232Cold, wet, sad, overwhelming day on the Ave again on Sunday. So many people need help and there just isn’t enough. My feet were soaked & I was wet from the rain, but I get to go home, put dry clothes on and get warm. Not one single person would choose this life of being on the streets, hungry, cold & wet and sleeping in a doorway. Baby-faced, 22-year-old kids hoping we have one more bag of snacks left because they are so hungry. So many have stories of such heartbreak that it’s hard to listen to them. We hold onto the hope that by going there week after week, listening to them, hugging them, feeding them, that one of those times they will see that they matter and take that first step towards recovery.
