On Wednesday in Kensington, I met K over by the bridge. He told me about his time in prison, and about how some of the guards would bring drugs and cell phones in and sell them to the inmates. He said he was treated horribly in prison, and “imagine if you were in there and you felt like I did? I didn’t feel human.”
He told me that before his addiction took over, he was smart, he had a job, he went to Drexel, and he had a family that he loved and who loved him back.
He talked for quite a while and he finally said, “do you know why I’m telling you all of this? Because you’re listening.”
